Soccer Game Preview: Santa Monica vs. St. Augustine

The Santa Monica Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Augustine Saints at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Monica's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Santa Monica heads in on the heels of a playoff game last Saturday. They fell just short of JSerra Catholic by a score of 3-2.

Orlando Popkin and Khaelan Zeitlin scored both of Santa Monica's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, St. Augustine faced Del Norte in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was St. Augustine who was credited with the victory. St. Augustine got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Del Norte's one.

St. Augustine pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Santa Monica, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-3.
