League recap: Dakota tops Utica Ford to extend winning streak

Dakota extended the longest winning streak in Macomb Area - Red this week by beating Utica Ford, 47-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Cougars.

Dakota led the league in scoring this week after putting up 47 points on the Falcons. Nicholas Cattaneo ran for 142 yards in the win.

Dan Chmielewski was the best wideout in the league this week as Utica Eisenhower topped Romeo. Chmielewski racked up four receptions for 81 yards. Paul Harper helped Utica Eisenhower's passing attack out by catching one ball for four yards.

Kyle Maxson put up the best numbers through the air as Utica Stevenson bested Chippewa Valley. He finished with eight completions for 160 yards and one touchdown. Maxson's favorite target this week was Tyler Sykes, who caught two passes for 53 yards.

Utica Stevenson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Titans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Maxson has thrown for 1087 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Sykes has 14 catches for 434 yards. Trevon Bauch leads the league in rushing with 653 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when the Titans take on the Eagles. Utica Stevenson's offense has racked up 220 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Utica Eisenhower has allowed only 76 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Chris Smith's team takes on Steve Goralski's team. As it stands, the Eagles are in third, while the Titans are in first.

There should be lots of points scored when Utica Eisenhower and Utica Stevenson face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Eagles comes in having scored 216 this season, while the Titans have scored 220. Utica Eisenhower scored 20 points last week as it beat the Bulldogs.

Utica Stevenson made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,941 from 2,363. The advance stemmed from a 24-7 victory over the Big Reds last week.
