Recap: James Kenan Tigers vs. East Duplin Panthers
The James Kenan Tigers suffered their biggest loss since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against East Duplin, falling 57-28. James Kenan has not had much luck with East Duplin recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, James Kenan saw an underclassman step up: Zaniya Brown scored seven points.
James Kenan struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as East Duplin racked up 13 assists.
Kinsey Cave was her usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals for East Duplin. Cave hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. JaMyah Pickett was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
James Kenan has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for East Duplin, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Kenan will challenge Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Clinton will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for East Duplin, they will head out on the road to challenge Kinston at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kinston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while East Duplin is ranked 76th).
