Baseball Recap: Gahr Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gahr can now relate to. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Etiwanda Eagles on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Gladiators couldn't push the score so high this time.

Gahr got a good showing from Jake Ourique, who struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those zero hits allowed gave Ourique a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Gahr saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Curneen, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Gahr has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-13 record this season. As for Etiwanda, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-12-1.

Gahr does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Etiwanda, they will face off against Servite at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Friars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
