The Uxbridge Spartans will face off against the Bay Path RVT Minutemen at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Uxbridge will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Bay Path RVT's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Uxbridge hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand Northbridge an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Erin O'Day was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Peloquin and Gabriela Belanger did most of the damage at the plate: Peloquin went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Belanger fired off four runs, four doubles, and two RBI while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave Peloquin a new career-high. Bailey Dzivasen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Uxbridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bay Path RVT didn't have quite enough to beat Millbury on Wednesday and fell 7-5. The loss continues a trend for the Minutemen in their meetings with the Woolies: they've now lost three in a row.
Savannah Steiner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Sepulveda, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Uxbridge pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bay Path RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Uxbridge hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bay Path RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Uxbridge took their victory against Bay Path RVT in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
