Baseball Game Preview: Twinsburg Tigers vs. Avon Eagles

The Twinsburg Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Avon Eagles at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Twinsburg has four straight victories, Avon has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Twinsburg earned a 4-1 win over Hoover.

Twinsburg got a great performance from Nathan Kimmel as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave Kimmel a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bobby Lemieux, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Avon didn't have quite enough to beat Brunswick on Friday and fell 8-6.

Ben Strichek was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carter Jenny made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Sam Spike was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Twinsburg pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
