Softball Game Preview: Peoria Lions vs. Peoria Notre Dame Irish

Peoria is 0-8 against Peoria Notre Dame since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Lions will head out to square off against the Irish at 4:30 p.m. Peoria has given up an average of 22.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Peoria is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Danville, falling 21-0.

Meanwhile, Peoria Notre Dame came up short against Bloomington Central Catholic on Wednesday and fell 5-1. The loss continues a trend for the Irish in their meetings with the Saints: they've now lost five in a row.

Peoria Notre Dame saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Leustek, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Peoria's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Peoria Notre Dame, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Peoria suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Peoria Notre Dame in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
