Soccer Game Preview: Archimedean vs. Mater Lakes Academy

Archimedean will take on the Mater Lakes Academy Bears in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Archimedean comes in on three and Mater Lakes Academy on six.

On Friday, Archimedean beat Marathon 4-2.

Meanwhile, Mater Lakes Academy kept a clean sheet against Florida Christian on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 1-0. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Patriots are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Archimedean is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those seven matchups. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Archimedean suffered a grim 6-1 defeat to Mater Lakes Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Archimedean avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
