Basketball Recap: Wootton Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Bethesda-Chevy Chase came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Wootton, but Sammy Alexandre wouldn't allow it. The Wootton Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons 76-74 thanks in part to Alexandre, who went 13 for 19 on his way to 34 points. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Brian Ngouzo, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. He is becoming a predictor of Wootton's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 5-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

Wootton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
