Softball Recap: Era Takes a Loss

If Era was feeling good fresh off their 23-1 takedown of Bryson last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Era Hornets fell 5-2 to the Nocona Indians on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Sydnee Wisian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 16 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Era saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Schneider, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Era's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Nocona, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Era will venture away from home to take on Chico at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chico has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.72 runs per game on average), something Era will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nocona, they will square off against Muenster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Muenster's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
