Preview: Camden County Wildcats vs. Colquitt County Packers

Camden County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Colquitt County Packers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Camden County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Saturday.

Camden County struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Lowndes had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Camden County took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lowndes. Camden County has not had much luck with Lowndes recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite their defeat, Camden County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dasmine Cooper, who scored four points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Kaniyah Patterson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.

Even though Colquitt County has not done well against Valdosta recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Colquitt County walked away with a 59-52 win over Valdosta. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Colquitt County.

Colquitt County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amira Walters- Smith out in front who scored 24 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Walters- Smith has scored at least a third of Colquitt County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amareyia Knighton, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Camden County's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Colquitt County, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Camden County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Colquitt County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Camden County took their win against Colquitt County when the teams last played on Friday by a conclusive 61-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Camden County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
