Basketball Preview: Farmington Farmers vs. Illini Bluffs Tigers
Farmington has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Illini Bluffs Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Farmington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Tigers are ranked 129th).
Last Tuesday, Farmington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to the Chargers.
Meanwhile, Illini Bluffs waltzed into their contest on Friday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They blew past Hartsburg-Emden 59-30 at home. Illini Bluffs has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.
Farmington dropped their record down to 12-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Illini Bluffs, their victory bumped their record up to 23-3.
Things could have been worse for Farmington, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-37 loss to the Tigers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Farmington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
