South Spencer hasn't had much luck against North Posey recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rebels will face off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
South Spencer took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 42-14 win over Forest Park. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rebels' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.
Tre Lance was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 225 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Tate Schulte was in the mix as well, providing South Spencer with two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Spencer was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Posey). They blew past Pike Central 49-6 on Friday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
North Posey's win came from a few key players South Spencer will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carter Schickel, who threw for 305 yards and seven TDs while completing 76% of his passes. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 16 passing touchdowns on the season. North Posey's leading receiver Dylan Murphy was Schickel's top target yet again, picking up 146 receiving yards and four scores.
South Spencer's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for North Posey, their record now sits at 4-1.
South Spencer lost to North Posey on the road by a decisive 31-16 margin in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Rebels, Jed Galvin (who rushed for 172 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 46 receiving yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
