Weeping Water gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past the Mead Raiders 16-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2023.

Luke Harms had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Weeping Water also got a significant boost from Tucker Bickford, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 114 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Weeping Water's defense and their four sacks. Gus Mcgill was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up twohimself. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up two sacks and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Weeping Water was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mead only rushed for 89.

Weeping Water will look to defend their home field on Friday against Giltner at 7:00 p.m. As for Mead, they will take on David City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
