Basketball Game Preview: Oakmont Vikings vs. Colfax Falcons

The Oakmont Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Colfax Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oakmont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Colfax likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Oakmont beat Bear River 70-60.

Meanwhile, Colfax posted their closest win since December 3, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Center 61-58. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Cougars are ranked 732nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakmont has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Colfax, their record now sits at 13-6.

Oakmont ended up a good deal behind Colfax in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, losing 65-51. Thankfully for Oakmont, Garren O'Keefe (who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
