Softball Recap: Collinsville Takes a Loss

Collinsville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the O'Fallon Panthers. If the Kahoks were looking for revenge after losing 6-3 to the Panthers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Collinsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preslie Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for O'Fallon, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On O'Fallon's side, Natalie Shearer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Shearer posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Schmitt, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ella Klino, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Collinsville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 18-0 loss against Belleville East on the 17th. As for O'Fallon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 defeat against Gillespie on the 17th.
