Montrose and Broomfield squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Montrose had to settle for second. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broomfield Eagles. The Red Hawks' loss signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Several Red Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase Mehan, who picked up 75 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 49 yards. Mehan also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending one pass. Aidan Grijalva was another key rusher, rushing for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Mehan was just one part of a punishing run game: Montrose was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 265 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 265 rushing yards in 14 consecutive games.
