Recap: Pender Pendragons vs. Oakland-Craig Knights

The Pender Pendragons put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakland-Craig and snuck past 51-49. That's another feather in the cap for Pender, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Pender's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maya Dolliver led the charge by scoring 18 points. The contest was Dolliver's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyla Krusemark, who scored 14 points.

Oakland-Craig's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bailey Pelan, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Adi Rennerfeldt, who scored 12 points.

Pender's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Oakland-Craig, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Pender will head out on the road to face off against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Pender is ranked 11th). Oakland-Craig won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Howells-Dodge at 4:00 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Howells-Dodge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
