Basketball Recap: Alcester-Hudson Cubs vs. Freeman Flyers

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 65-45 defeat at the hands of Freeman. While losing is never fun, Alcester-Hudson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Flyers are ranked 35th).

Freeman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlin Jacobsen, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Jacobsen hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Cami Fransen, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Alcester-Hudson has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Freeman, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Alcester-Hudson will head out on the road to take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Freeman, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Cavaliers at 2:15 p.m.
