Basketball Recap: Palo Verde Valley Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Daymien Jauregui and Zaraivion Crowe

Palo Verde Valley lost against Banning back in December of 2015 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets received a blow as they fell 80-63 to the Banning Broncos.

Palo Verde Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Zaraivion Crowe and Daymien Jauregui. Crowe went 10 for 22 on his way to 25 points and seven rebounds, while Jauregui went 7 of 11 on his way to 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The game was Crowe's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Donnelley, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Banning had a senior duo take command as Riley Aguilar posted 18 points and Junior Dunahoo put up 16 points. With that strong performance, Aguilar is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Sajon Prince was another key player, putting up nine points.

Palo Verde Valley dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Banning, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palo Verde Valley will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Banning, they will welcome Desert Hot Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
