Softball Recap: Lake Oswego's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lake Oswego ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Gresham Gophers 6-5. While the Lakers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ava Beach spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits. She also put up four walks, which were her first of the season.

At the plate, Karina Swartz was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Macy Maxwell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

The win was the fourth in a row for Lake Oswego, bringing their record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gresham, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Oswego will square off against Reynolds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gresham, they will face off against Lakeridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Gophers are facing the Pacers at the right time seeing as the Pacers are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
