Softball Recap: Mills Comes Up Short

After flying high against Mountain View last Friday, Mills came back down to earth. Mills took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Notre Dame Tigers on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Jazzy Maske and Audrey Jang stepped up to the plate in a big way. Maske scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Jang went 1-for-2 with one home run. Maske has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Jolie Wong also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 8-2-1. As for Notre Dame, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mills will take on Sequoia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sequoia has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something Mills will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Notre Dame, they will take on Westmont in a tournament on Saturday.
