Basketball Game Preview: Walnut Ridge Scots vs. Africentric Early College Nubians

Walnut Ridge and Africentric Early College are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Walnut Ridge Scots will face off against the Africentric Early College Nubians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Walnut Ridge comes in on eight and Africentric Early College on 15.

On Saturday, Walnut Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their match against South, but they still walked away with a 63-58 victory. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Africentric Early College strolled past Eastmoor Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 51-32.

Walnut Ridge's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Africentric Early College, their record now sits at 15-1.

Walnut Ridge and Africentric Early College were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Walnut Ridge came up empty-handed after a 58-57 loss. Can Walnut Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
