Softball Recap: Superior Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Superior came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the San Simon Longhorns. Considering the Panthers have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lessenia Ramirez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Stephanie Lopez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-4. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rose Tomerlin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Superior hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Superior pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for San Simon, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Superior will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Longhorns: the pair will be back at it again later today.
