League recap: Beloit tops Norton to extend winning streak

North Central AA recap Oct. 23, 2012

Beloit extended the longest winning streak in North Central AA this week by beating Norton, 56-9. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Trojans.

Beloit led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Bluejays.

Sacred Heart's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Wuthnow threw for 200 and two touchdowns and Tony Chavez had 82 yards receiving. On the ground Drew Diederich chipped in 145 yards. Diederich helped Sacred Heart's passing attack out by catching two balls for 47 yards.

Ryan Krajicek made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Knights beat Ellsworth. The 5-foot-8 senior grabbed two sacks.

Sacred Heart's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wuthnow has thrown for 1095 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Chavez has 17 catches for 458 yards. Diederich leads the league in rushing with 591 yards.

A big matchup in North Central AA this week will be when Minneapolis takes on Greg Koenig's team. As it stands, the Lions are in fifth, while the Trojans are in first.
