Musselman takes loss despite strong efforts from Wade Bartles and Troy Woolaston

Recap: Musselman Applemen vs. Jefferson Cougars

On Tuesday, the Musselman Applemen faced the Jefferson Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Musselman fell to the Cougars 43-38. Musselman has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Troy Woolaston and Wade Bartles certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Woolaston scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, while Bartles scored seven points along with six rebounds. Gavin Mcclain was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Jaiden Gladney was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points for Jefferson. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gladney has scored at least a third of Jefferson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adonis Troxell, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Musselman's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Jefferson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hedgesville the next time they take the court. Musselman will head out to face the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
