Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Mustangs vs. Gladwin Flying G's

The Meridian Mustangs will challenge the Gladwin Flying G at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Wednesday, Meridian lost to Freeland on the road by a 70-54 margin. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Falcons are ranked 21st).

Meanwhile, Gladwin came up short against Clare on Wednesday and fell 48-39. The Flying G's have struggled against the Pioneers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Meridian's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.5 points. As for Gladwin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.

Everything came up roses for Meridian against Gladwin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-41 victory. Does Meridian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gladwin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
