Basketball Recap: Hauppauge Starts Season with Win on the Road

Hauppauge had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Wyandanch Warriors 81-37. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 36 point advantage.

Despite the loss, Wyandanch still got an impressive performance from Nevaeh Hewitt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tiarah Cunningham, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Wyandanch dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hauppauge will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wyandanch at 4:30 p.m. on January 16, 2025. As for Wyandanch, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-26 defeat against Eastport-South Manor on the 12th.
