Softball Recap: Roncalli Comes Up Short

Brownsburg hit Roncalli with a four-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Royals took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Bennie Leffler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Roncalli has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-7 record this season. As for Brownsburg, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

Roncalli and Brownsburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Royals will face off against Rushville at 2:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (16 vs. 238). Meanwhile, Brownsburg (ranked 20th) will meet Ben Davis (ranked 161st) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
