Excel Christian Academy entered their tilt with Faith Christian Academy on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Excel Christian Academy took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-10, 25-13.

Excel Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Xaidelis Figueroa, who had five aces.

Figueroa wasn't the only good servers: Excel Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in five consecutive matchups.

The victory got Excel Christian Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Faith Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Excel Christian Academy will square off against rival Hillsborough Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Faith Christian Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Florida College Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
