Baseball Recap: Westview Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Westview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Kellis Cougars 15-14. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 9-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Dorian Ponciano made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ponciano was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Justin Marquez was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Westview's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 7-14 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cyrus Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Westview's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Kellis, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-19.

As of now, neither Westview nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
