Football Recap: New Hampton School Huskies vs. Canterbury School Saints
While it was New Hampton School who put the first points on the board on Saturday, it was Canterbury School who put up more. The Huskies took a 20-2 bruising from the Saints. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.
Drew Fitzgerald looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 305 yards and one TD while completing 71.9% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. Those 305 passing yards gave him a new career-high. A healthy portion of Fitzgerald's aerial production (106 yards to be exact) went to Wells Cunningham.
This is the second loss in a row for New Hampton School and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Canterbury School, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. New Hampton School will venture away from home to face off against Pingree at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Canterbury School, they will head out to square off against Trinity-Pawling School at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
