Layton has gone 8-2 against Syracuse recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Layton Lancers will take on the Syracuse Titans at 7:00 p.m. Layton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Syracuse likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Layton needed a bit of extra time to put away Fremont. They slipped by the Silverwolves 56-55. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Silverwolves are ranked 71st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Syracuse beat Farmington 52-48 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Layton better keep an eye on Skyler Orton. He was instrumental in Syracuse's win, going 9-for-16 on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Burke Rountree, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 10 points and five boards.

Syracuse's record is now 11-12. As for Layton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Layton skirted past Syracuse 76-73 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Layton repeat their success, or does Syracuse have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
