Recap: Huntington Beach Oilers vs. Laguna Beach Breakers
The Huntington Beach Oilers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Laguna Beach by a score of 64-62. Huntington Beach has not had much luck with Laguna Beach recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Huntington Beach's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Oliver Nakra, who scored 25 points. Nakra continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Barker, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Laguna Beach's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Halvorson, who scored 22 points. Halvorson hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Dylan Mceachern, who scored 20 points.
Huntington Beach bumped their record down to 14-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Laguna Beach, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-11.
Huntington Beach will square off against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Edison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Huntington Beach in California (Edison is ranked 39th, while Huntington Beach is ranked 267th). As for Laguna Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fountain Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fountain Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 527 points over their last eight contests.
