Baseball Recap: Lake Nona Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lake Nona got themselves on the board against Edgewater on Wednesday, but Edgewater never followed suit. They blew past the Edgewater Eagles 7-0. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 1-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jaythan Rivera tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Lake Nona let Tsubasa Sasaki and Logan Inman run wild. Sasaki scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Inman went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Inman has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Luis Atencio, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

The win was the third in a row for Lake Nona, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Edgewater, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Lake Nona didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against West Orange on the 14th. As for Edgewater, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-1 victory against University on the 18th.
