Softball Recap: Madera Find Success

The Madera Coyotes were able to grind out a solid win over the Sanger West Hornets on Friday, taking the game 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Coyotes.

Jayleen Gutknecht looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Malea Ricks, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Madera's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Sanger West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-5-1.

Madera wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-2 win against Justin Garza on the 8th. As for Sanger West, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-3 loss against Sanger on the 8th.
