Recap: Miller Buccaneers vs. Calallen Wildcats
The Miller Buccaneers lost against the Calallen Wildcats back in November of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Miller took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calallen. While losing is never fun, Miller can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 948th, while Calallen is ranked 442nd).
Miller's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Martinez, who scored 17 points. The contest was Martinez's 20th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Julissa Ramirez, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Miller and nudges their season record down to 8-14. As for Calallen, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.
Miller is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Ray at 3:00 p.m. on January 2nd. Ray comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Calallen and Port Aransas will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at.
