Football Recap: Zane Trace Falls Short of Columbus Academy in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Zane Trace couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 35-23 to the Columbus Academy Vikings on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Pioneers, who until this game were averaging 10.58 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Zane Trace still got an impressive performance from Brice Johnson, who rushed for 148 yards and one TD while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 31 receiving yards.

Zane Trace moved to 9-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Columbus Academy, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Zane Trace does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Columbus Academy, they will take on Nelsonville-York at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buckeyes' defense has only allowed eight points per game this season, so the Vikings' offense will have their work cut out for them.
