Preview: Heppner Mustangs vs. Bandon/Pacific Tigers
After two games on the road, Heppner is heading back home. They will take on The Bandon/Pacific Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Heppner never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Grant Union last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Prospectors 54-14 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-0.
Heppner's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conner Wilson, who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Caden George was another key contributor, rushing for 59 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Bandon/Pacific got themselves on the board against Rogue River on Saturday, but Rogue River never followed suit. They blew past the Chieftains, posting a 67-0 victory at home. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bandon/Pacific.
Their wins bumped Heppner to 7-2 and Bandon/Pacific to 6-3.
