Palm Beach Central extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-4. They strolled past the Wellington Wolverines with points to spare, taking the game 37-21. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.
Chance Routson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 88 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 143 yards and one TD. Joseph Thomas was another key player, rushing for 100 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Palm Beach Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 92.5 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 263.7.
Palm Beach Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Travis Jackson. He also made six total tackles, which is notable because Palm Beach Central is 4-2 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Antoine Sharp was another major factor on D, making 14 total tackles.
As for Wellington, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 307th, while Palm Beach Central is ranked 119th).
Although Wellington took the loss, they still got scores from Jonathan Paul, Jay'Lan Tyler, and Deandre King.
Palm Beach Central has already played their next matchup, a 49-0 victory against Dwyer on the 30th. As for Wellington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 28-27 defeat against Seminole Ridge on the 30th.
