Football Recap: Jaxson Young and Steven Taylor Pace Salem Hills Defense

Salem Hills lost against Park City back in October of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Skyhawks fell 30-17 to the Miners. The game marked the Skyhawks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Salem Hills took the loss, they still got scores from Benjamin Staheli and Peyton Higginson.

While Salem Hills came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Park City: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 48.1%. Salem Hills' defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jaxson Young and Steven Taylor, who racked up all four sacks between them.

Josh Hofer had an outrageously good game for Park City as he rushed for 120 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, and also threw for 181 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Hofer's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Salem Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Park City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Salem Hills will head out on the road to take on Uintah at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Skyhawks are facing the Utes at the right time seeing as the Utes are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Park City, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Provo at 7:00 p.m. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
