Softball Recap: Seaside Takes a Loss

Seaside extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 10-13. They fell 7-2 to the St. Helens Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.

As for St. Helens, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For St. Helens' part, Eme Curaming spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Curaming has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addy Ellis, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Bristol Beehler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

While Seaside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
