Recap: Cox Mill Chargers vs. Lake Norman Wildcats
The Cox Mill Chargers struggled with assists on Friday (the Lake Norman Wildcats had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Cox Mill suffered a rough 60-34 defeat at the hands of Lake Norman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cox Mill in their matchups with Lake Norman: they've now lost nine in a row.
Cox Mill's loss came despite strong showings from Kelly Williams and Lauren Farrell. Williams scored 13 points, while Farrell scored five points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Lake Norman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Shehan led the charge by scoring 19 points along with two steals. Alexis Shehan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Cox Mill now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Lake Norman, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cox Mill will take on Hickory Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cox Mill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Hickory Ridge is ranked 43rd). As for Lake Norman, they will head out on the road to take on South Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Norman is coming into the match with 16 straight wins on the road, so South Iredell is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
