Basketball Game Preview: East Mountain Timberwolves vs. Cuba Rams

East Mountain is 0-10 against Cuba since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The East Mountain Timberwolves will head out to square off against the Cuba Rams at 6:30 p.m. East Mountain has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.

Last Saturday, East Mountain didn't have quite enough to beat Cottonwood Classical Prep and fell 48-45.

East Mountain's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evelyn Kannolt, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, and Jodie Tillman, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Kannolt is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played.

Even though they lost, East Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cottonwood Classical Prep only posted one assist.

Meanwhile, Cuba entered their tilt with Sandia Prep on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They secured a 40-36 W over the Sundevils.

Cuba's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for East Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

East Mountain took a serious blow against Cuba in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 51-18. Can East Mountain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
