Baseball Recap: Seaholm Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Seaholm came out on top against Kettering on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Maples were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Captains. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 on Monday.

Ian Evert was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Liam McDonald was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Seaholm: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-15-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aaron Van De Mark, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Seaholm hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

Seaholm's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-15-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kettering, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13-1.

Seaholm will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Captains: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
