Softball Recap: Sachse Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Sachse hadn't done well against Wylie recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Sachse walked away with a 9-4 victory over Wylie. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Pirates on their field since March 8, 2021.

Logan Schultz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Mcclarity, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Shelby Siratt, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Sachse's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wylie, they moved to 12-7 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Sachse and Wylie should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Sachse will take on Lakeview Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 599 places (447 vs. 1046). Meanwhile, Wylie (ranked 237th) will meet South Garland (ranked 1052nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
