Basketball Recap: Kewaskum Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Kewaskum can now relate to. They fell 49-38 to the Port Washington Pirates on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, with their most recent defeat being a 47-38 loss two weeks ago.

Port Washington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Norah Merow out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Merow has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Savanna Miller was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

Kewaskum has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Port Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Kewaskum does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Port Washington, they and Cedarburg will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
