Softball Game Preview: Rockvale vs. Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers

Rockvale will head out to take on the Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Rockvale made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oakland, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Rockvale fell just short of Oakland by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. Rockvale hasn't had much luck with Oakland recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Atiera Stickler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

Columbia Central hit Warren County with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pioneers & Lady Pioneers took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

Warren County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ky Damon, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Cortlyn Porter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Warren County's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Rockvale, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Rockvale skirted past Warren County 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rockvale since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
