Baseball Recap: West Middlesex Comes Up Short

West Middlesex lost against Greenville back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Big Reds took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Big Reds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kyle Gilson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Gilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Blanton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

West Middlesex's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Greenville, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Middlesex will head out to challenge Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Big Reds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Greenville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mercer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
