Volleyball Recap: Mount Desert Island's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Mount Desert Island was the 3-1 winner over Narraguagus when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The loss put an end to the Trojans' undefeated start to the season.

Mount Desert Island wouldn't go down easily and took Narraguagus into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-16, 21-25, 15-10.

Janiece Anderson paced Mount Desert Island's offense, picking up eight kills. Anderson got some help from Lily Byer and her 25 assists. Byer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mount Desert Island fell to 2-1. As for Narraguagus, the win was the seventh in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Mount Desert Island wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Washington Academy on the 13th. As for Narraguagus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Machias on the 16th.
